You Are Chosen

Stop hiding behind the mask of having it all together, when you know behind closed doors, what’s really breaking isn’t just life; it’s your closeness with God…

Still, even there, you are chosen.

You are chosen, but you also have to choose to remain committed to Him, so you are not knocked off kilter by the pleasures and the evil that surround God’s people in this world. In the Gospel of John, I find deep comfort in the truth that Jesus prayed to His Heavenly Father for those who are His, and there is something profoundly steadying in knowing that He is still interceding for us even now—holding us, covering us, speaking on our behalf when we cannot even find the words ourselves.

I remember a past conversation with my mother about the keeping power of God. She once told me of a moment when, with tears streaming down her face and her eyes lifted toward Heaven, she cried out, “Jesus, pray for me.” Her words stayed with me, not because they were elaborate, but because they were real. And since that day, I’ve come to understand something deeper: there is a peace that settles over a soul when it realizes that the beginning, the middle, and the end are already known by the Master.

Jesus warned us that wide is the gate leading to destruction, but narrow is the road leading to life (Matthew 7:13–14). And I’ll be honest, that narrow road is not always easy to walk. Life can leave us spiritually tired in ways we don’t always know how to explain. The pain, disappointment, anxiety, and regret can pile up so quietly that we almost forget what peace in Christ even feels like. And yet even there, God remains near to the ones who cry out to Him.

Like the steady rhythm of waves washing onto the shore, the sea reminds me of how God listens and gently speaks. His presence comes over a weary heart gently, like water meeting the sand, calming what life keeps trying to unsettle. And I’m reminded again: nothing in this life is hidden from God, and nothing will ever catch Him off guard. He will never step away from you, so don’t you step away from Him. You are always being invited to call on Him daily, to lean on Him continually, and to remain in Him faithfully.

I’m learning that part of staying in a right relationship with God is realizing He is not searching for perfect people but for repentant hearts, hearts like David’s. A heart that is willing to come back, again and again, and surrender honestly before Him. God is not drawn to our facade of flawless appearances. He moves toward truth, toward our humility, and toward the soul that still turns back after it has fallen.

So don’t let your past place a label on you that God Himself never did.

Give your mistakes, the battles, and the broken seasons to a God who gets the final word over who you are. Get up. God still calls you chosen, and in His hands even your mess can become a testimony of grace. Let His words be the part that you keep coming back to…

Ultimately, what if the very thing you think is disqualifying you is actually the very place where God’s grace wants to meet you the most?

As always, this powerful word of encouragement is more than worth the 3 minutes it takes to read it.
